Positions played?

I was a back when I was younger. Now mainly in the forward line. In saying that I could be played in any position any given day..

Favourite game played?

South Final win against St Marys. I had the pleasure of marking Seamus Kennedy who just won an All Ireland with Tipp. I managed 2 points that day and we got the win in a dramatic finish..

Club players you looked up to growing up?

Paul Tobin, Mikey Whelan and Philly Murphy. I had the pleasure of playing with those men. I’d also have to say my father was a huge inspiration for me playing hurling and he still is..

Best players you played with?

So many top class hurlers over the years I could name them all but instead I will name and unbelievable team I was part of, the senoir south finialist team. It was arguably the best crop of players of my generation. I have to mention the new lads two I’m in awe of those lads special talents everyone of them.

Best memory playing?

Best memory was the weekend we won the Minor County Final. I scored all my frees in semple, 8 points to help my club and team mates win our first county in 38 years. The next day I played and won an Intermediate South Final. It‘a very hard to top a weekend like that...

What player trained the hardest from any squad you were part of?

When it comes to training every Davin man tries their best for the club but one man has the highest attendance record the last 20 years Stephen Cronin, so for me he tops the list..

Favourite pitch to play on?

It has to be Semple, I’ve played there a few times. Not many club players can say that.

Name one goal you have before you retire?

My biggest goal right now is to continue playing. I’ve been unlucky with injuries but if I can go for few more years and help the younger guys like Ray, Luke, The Whelan brothers, Conor, Adam, Billy, to name a few and try get up to the senior ranks again because those lads deserve that chance. Hurlers like them need to play senior hurling for the Davins and experience what we did..

Name one change you would bring into hurling?

More hurling games for clubs. Summer hurling fixed for clubs start to finish and Intercounty works around the club. We need to raise the club game.

One piece of advice you would give your younger self?

If I could go back and tell myself one thing it would be everything you do, do it with a bit more fire..
